Florabunda by Hunkydory a Thank You Card

Hi, I’m back with a cardmaking project to share with you. Believe it or not, it was March since I last used one of the craft items that comes with a Craft Magazine. They are stacking up! As luck would have it Issue 184 (July) of Cardmaking & Papercraft supplied us with a Hunkydory Card Making Collection. You know me and Hunkydory, they are very much a safe choice for any occasion. This particular Collection Florabunda is perfect for a Thank You card I have commissioned.

Creating the Florabunda Card

Those of you that read all my blog posts will know that I have recently launched a new YouTube channel and so instead of taking still photos at various stages of creating the card I decided to make a video for you. My first craft video. One thing I think is important when I make videos is to take you along for the journey. As an example when I first start the video it is a bit dark, I realised this quickly and let you know what I did to correct it. As I mentioned in the Fibro videos, I am very keen on keeping things real. I have Fibromyalgia, and it affects me in various ways, but the important thing is I can still craft and make cards.  Would you like a sneak peek of the finished card? I’m sure you would. So here is the completed Florabunda Thank You Card.

Would you like to know how I decide on a card layout? So, if you are interested in seeing my thought process behind coming up with this design or maybe how I made this card just press play.

The Card Insert

In case you are wondering about the insert for the card I didn’t use items from the Florabunda collection I decided to save them and designed the insert in Serif Craft Artist Pro. I was despondent when they stopped selling and updating Craft Artist because it is such a simple piece of software to use. I also have copies of Making Memories and My Craft Studio Elite which can probably do everything that Craft Artist does but you know how it is when you are familiar with a particular piece of software… I really should take the time to learn these a bit better because they are current and readily available. I wondered if Serif may be replacing Craft Artist with some new crafting software as part of the new Affinity Suite, but so far this does not seem to be the case. Although I very much rate Affinity Photo and use it for some of my blog and social media images. Enough of talk about software though, here is the image you are waiting to see!

If you have enjoyed seeing this post about the Florabunda Thank You Card you may wish to check out some of my recent craft posts. You can find a selection of them here. If you are particularly interested in seeing what I have created with items that come with craft magazines, head for these instead. Perhaps you have heard me mentioning Fibromyalgia, and you are not sure what I mean. In that case, the best place to start would be my Journey to Diagnosis; this post contains a video too to save on the reading!

Coming Up Soon

For those of you who watched my Journey to Diagnosis, you may remember I mentioned that previous accidents might contribute to triggering the condition. On Friday I plan to tell you the story of some of mine. Although they were not amusing at the time they happened some of the causes were quite funny. I’m sure not many people have been in some of the situations I have. As for creativity next Monday I plan to bring you some watercolour projects, including a giveaway, so don’t forget to come back.

Until next time,
Gentle Hugs,
Susan
