The Details

When did I try it

First quick impressions

It looked really pretty, I wanted to use it as soon as I got a chance (2 months so a slight fail there) I love Hydrangeas in real life and the flowers come in purple, one of my favourite colours – bonus!

Testing the Hydrangea Free Gift Set

The Hydrangea Stamps

The stamps all performed well, a few of them took more than one stamping but of course with my trusty stamp platform that was not a problem at all. The main Hydrangea and the butterflies along with the insects are likely to get the most use but there are some useful sentiments there too.  I imagine these stamps will be mainly used on female cards but across a wide variety of genres.

The Hydrangea Stencil

I have not used stencils very much in the past and when I have it has been with Inkylicious brushes and inks. I decided, however, to test this stencil using my Embellishment Mousse as I was desperate to play with it again. I am confident that this will be a really useful stencil if it can produce an image of that quality with a texture paste done by a novice user of them.

The Hydrangea Embossing Folder

The Embossing Folder mainly features two butterflies and these are the same size as the butterfly stamp so the two will work together well if you want to create a layered design. The first time I embossed it using my trusty Gemini Machine (you can find out more about my Gemini here and how it has allowed me to keep crafting) the cardstock cracked but I think this said more about the cardstock than the folder or the machine. I was using some scraps of quite cheap coated cardstock when I tried it again with mirror board and Adorable Scorable there were no such problems. I can see this being quite useful pretty border both with the other elements and other products.

The Verdict

You can read all about the first card I made with this gift set in my post here.

I like the designs of these products, the set all goes well together but the products can all be used independently on their own. At the moment this kit has been awarded a place in my craft stash. Time will tell as I work through everything if the stamp set will receive a permanent home as I am unsure at the moment if I have any other Hydrangea themed stamps from purchases I have made. I think the Embossing Folder and Stencil are unique though and will be sticking around.

I will be back with plenty more reviews soon.

Do let me know if you have this free gifts and feel free to share images of projects you have made.

Crafty hugs,

Disclosure: If you decide to try some of the products I recommend I may receive a small commission from your purchase. However, I have not been paid in advance to advertise the products and have not received them free of charge unless stated. They are simply products I have purchased and found very helpful or enjoyable to use.
